Sisters Who Serve The World
The project is a story I wrote over the summer for Omaha Magazine’s special Big Give issue, the special once a year print which focuses on community service in the metro. I wrote the story, conducted interviews, and took the photos for the story. I was not supposed to do this piece originally, but a different story dropped out of the issue less than 24 hours before we had to send the issue to print. So, the Omaha Magazine editorial team started to brainstorm any story we could have photographed, interviewed, and written within the following hours. I had taken graduation pictures for a few girls in my sorority a month prior, and my sorority does lots of philanthropic work for Make-A-Wish, so I pitched my story as the intern. My editor approved the story and I had to get into action quick, called as many people as I could to see if they could do a phone interview on the spot and started writing the piece.
